Letter from last Annual Appeal (Oct - Dec, 2007)

Dear Marianist Lay Communities, lay Marianists, and Friends,

As members of the global Marianist Family, Marianist Lay Communities (MLCs) and lay Marianists in the United States and Canada are looked to for leadership and participation in that Family. When you or your MLC, choose to donate to the MLNNA, you show explicit support for sustaining lay Marianists and MLCs worldwide and for furthering their work for social justice and for lay formation. Please consider making a generous donation to the Marianist Lay Network of North America (MLNNA), either as an individual or as a community, so that all of us together can continue to build the Marianist Family globally as well as locally.

We ask that you and your community prayerfully reflect on helping to sustain a continental network of MLCs and individuals that are involved, each in their own way, with building the world and the Church into the best possible likeness of God’s reign. If you or your community chooses to make a donation, please know that by doing so, you support your own representative Marianist Lay Network in making the following monetary commitments:

As you can see, these budget items are basic, clear expenditures that enable lay Marianists to contribute to the larger Marianist Family as well as carry out their own missions. Your MLC’s donation of 1(one) hours wage per person in the community will assist us in providing an ongoing presence in the Marianist Family.  Please consider pledging to be a sustaining member or a sustaining community for the Marianist Lay Network by providing a contribution each year.

Our goal is to raise $25,000 each year.  If each person contributed, on average, $35 per year, or each community contributed, on average, $300 per year, we would meet this goal and be able to continue our work on your behalf at the present level. Without your help, we will not be able to continue to promote the growth of the Marianist Family at even this modest level. For the last 17 years, MLNNA has not pressed for your support. We have continued with donations from individual lay and religious as well as the Society of Mary and Daughters of Mary. We are very grateful for their help and will continue to rely on it.  But we cannot become a mature lay organization without more general and sustained support. Your help is needed now to carry out our mission together.

In the spirit of Mary's mission,

Marge Cavanaugh
President, MLNNA
